There is so much to enjoy during summer in the mountains! The Mountain Landscape pattern is an interesting lesson in perspective. Pull out all of your batiks and spend some time auditioning and arranging the colors. Lighter and pale for the distant mountains, and darker and brighter for the foreground. If you are making the Rocky Mountain Memories pattern (84" x 96"), begin the landscape section first. This will set your palette for the rest of the quilt. The pieced blocks in this quilt all continue the mountain theme, from the Bear's Paw to the Rising Star blocks. The appliqued blocks show our lovely wild flowers and birds.
